Appearance/Description: Colorless or slightly yellow, syrupy liquid.
Solubility: Insoluble in chloroform;Miscible with water, Alcohol and with ethanol 96%
Identification (By chemical test): The solution should be strongly acidic.
Identification (by Relative density, 20°C): 1.20 to 1.21
Identification (By chemical test): A dark green ring should appear at the junction of the two liquids.
Identification (Lactate): A blue color should produce.
Appearance of solution: The solution should not be more intensely colored than reference solution Y6.
Assay: 88.0% - 92.0% w/w
Sulphated ash / Residue on ignition: NMT 0.05%
Sugars and other reducing substances: No red or greenish precipitate should form.
Calcium (Ca): NMT 200 ppm
