Appearance/Description: Clear, Colourless, odourless, syrupy liquid .Corrosive
Solubility: Miscible with water, with alcohol and with ethanol (96%)
Identification (By chemical test): The solution should strongly acidic.
Identification (Phosphate 1): With silver nitrate solution neutral solution should yield yellow precipitate that soluble in 2N nitric acid and 6 N ammonium hydroxide.
Identification (Phosphate 2): With ammonium molybdate solution, acidified solutions should yield a yellow precipitate that should soluble in 6N ammonium hydroxide.
Identification (Phosphate 3): A yellow precipitate should form whose colour does not change by boiling and which dissolves on addition of ammonia.
Identification (Phosphate 4): A yellow color should develop
Appearance of solution: Clear and colorless solution
Assay: 85.0% - 88.0% w/w
Limit of Nitrate: The blue color should not discharge within 1 minute.
Chloride & Sulfate: Sulfate: No precipitate should form immediately
Sulphate (SO4): NMT 100ppm
Alkali Phosphate: No turbidity should produce.
Phosphorous or Hypophosphorous acid: The mixture should not become brownish.
Relative density, 20°C: About 1.7
Substance precipitated with ammonia(NH4): Any opalescence in the solution should not be more intense than that of reference solution
