Appearance/Description: Colorless or slightly yellow, syrupy liquid and not more intensely colored than reference solution Y6.
Solubility: Insoluble in chloroform;Miscible with water, Alcohol and with ethanol 96%
Identification (By chemical test): The solution should be strongly acidic.
Identification (by Relative density, 20°C): 1.20-1.21
Identification (By chemical test): A dark green ring should appear at the junction of the two liquids.
Identification (Lactate): A blue color should produce.
Appearance of solution: The solution should not be more intensely colored than reference solution Y6.

Readily carbonizable substances: No dark color should develop at the interface of the two acid within 15 min.
