Specifications  
Appearance: White or almost white, crystalline powder or colourless crystals or white or almost white pearls.
Solubility: Freely soluble in water, practically insoluble in anhydrous ethanol.
Identification A (Chloride): A white curdled precipitate should form which should dissolve in ammonia
Identification B (Sodium): A dense white precipitate should form
Appearance of Solution: Clear and colorless solution
Acidity & alkalinity: Not more than 0.5ml of 0.01M hydrochloric acid or 0.01M sodium hydroxide should require to change the colour of the indicator.
Bromide (Br): Maximum 100 ppm
Ferrocyanide[Fe(CN6)]: No blue colour should produce within 10 minutes.
Iodide(I): The mixture shows no blue colour.
Nitrite (NO2): The absorbance should not be greater than 0.01 at 354 nm
Phosphate (PO4): Maximum 25ppm
Sulfate (SO4): Maximum 200ppm
Arsenic (As): Maximum 1ppm
Barium(Ba): Any opalescence in the solution should not more intense than that of reference solution.
Iron (Fe): Maximum 2 ppm
Magnesium and alkaline earth metals: Maximum 100 ppm
Loss on drying (105°C for 2hrs.): Maximum 0.5%
Assay (Dried substance): 99.0% - 100.5%
