Description: A clear, colourless, syrupy liquid; corrosive, when kept at a low temperature it may solidify, producing a mass of a colourless crystals which do not melt until the temperature reaches 28°C
Solubility: Miscible with water and with ethanol(95%)
Identification A: The solution is strongly acidic.
Identification (Phosphate A): A light yellow precipitate should form whose colour does not change by boiling and which dissolves on addition of ammonia
Identification (Phosphate B): A white crystalline precipitate should form.
Identification (Phosphate C): A bright yellow precipitate should form.
Appearance of Solution: Clear and colourless solution.
Arsenic (As): NMT 2ppm
Heavy metals: NMT 10ppm
Iron (Fe): NMT 60ppm
Chloride (Cl): NMT 50ppm
Sulphate (SO4): NMT 100ppm
Alkali Phosphates: No turbidity should produced.
Aluminium and calcium: The solution remains clear.
Hypophosphorus acid and phosphorous acid: The appearance of the solution does not change.
